Although it's only January the weather for today just seems as perfect as any other Spring day.

With that said the "New" look for the oxford shoe has me itching to wear each and everyone of them for almost any given occasion.

I see myself with a rolled up pant cuff, basic Tee and hoard myself with Accessories while sitting on the West Side Highway just snapping pictures away and taking in the beautiful Spring weather as the flowers start to bloom.

Sigh! Can you tell I am a Spring Baby lol!

Home Made Mani: Verde (Green)

Decided to have a little fun with this "Home Made Mani" feature of my cousin's nails.

Recipe?

1.Use any neon bright base color of your choice.

2. Lighting dab on the bottom half of your nail some glitter (This is the best way to get a full glitter effect).

3. Use a thin brush and lightly make lines in whichever direction and shape you like.

4. Use top coat to dab on one spot of your choice and use your hand or eyebrow tweezers to place an eye over it.

5. Finally top coat each nail and you are done.

Products I used:

KleanColor: Funky Yellow (Base Color), Sephora O.P.I: Gleek Out (Green Glitter); ESSIE: Licorice (Black Lines), Eyes: Michael's Craft Store.

366 (Leap Year) Days of me. I have been wanting to do a Photography project for a while now.
Ever since I got my hands on the Canon G12 it has sparked my love for Photography again. I won't say it will be an easy task, but it will be all worth it in the end. No matter how sad, tired, angry or sick I am I will take these daily pictures of myself. Oh yea even those days I don't wear any makeup (like now lol).

1st I want to wish you all a Happy New Year full of happiness and good health. 2011 was amazing year. Not only did I graduate (finally), but was able to be part of great opportunities that I never thought would take place. I met wonderful people whom have changed my life for the better, kept the people that matter in my life, push those negative ones to the side and finally found myself. I feel great under my own skin and could only hope I can continue to share that and inspire anyone to know that looks never last but style and grace always stays. As a Dominicana (Dominican Republic Native) from the Bronx I only hope that Women from my community realize that life isn't just this bubble we tend to create where there is nothing beyond "The Block". You can be anything you put your heart into.

Home Made Mani: Holiday Shimmer.

Pretty easy DIY Nail Art. Simply apply the glitter nail polish of your choice ( I used "Carnival" by NYX). The more coats you apply the better. The eyes you can buy at any available craft store in you area but keep in mind you want to choose a very small size so they can fit. However you can buy bigger ones and place one on as many nails as you choose. Place the eyes with tweezers or by hand. Finally apply two or more coats of Top Coat nail polish and you are done.

New In My Closet: Made Me x Vans.

Special Delivery!

For someone who does not often shop online especially for footwear I was quite impressed with the packaging. From the box's artistically edgy graphics down to the semi sheer white paper wrapped around the sneakers, which has the same imprinted white cross detail as the footwear itself. The cross detail is inspired by Erin Magee's (Made Me Owner / Designer) love for all things Madonna. Their attention to details only makes me that much more excited for my next purchase. Yes! There will be a next time since they have gained cool points from me.

I personally am not a big Tote bag kind of gal, however this one surpassed my expectations with it's basic detail and of course it's black, which has so far been my signature shade of color choice this season.

As previously mentioned the Made Me x Vans collaborations has been re-released just in time for the holidays. Whether you choose the CAMRYN (as I did), the WELLESLY (High Tops) or both you will not be disappointed.

These are my 1st bunch of current obsessions for this Christmas holiday wish list. I already purchased an early Christmas gift to myself. The MadeMe x Vans sneaker collaboration which are being re-released as of today and I made sure I got my pair this time around.
I have always been an Accessory whore (for a lack of a better word) which explains why this fall season I have been wearing a lot of black since I love to accessorize with hints of pop colors here and there as shown above with the Beanie Hat and Purse.

HINT: Clearly I do not let the freezing weather stop me from wearing these kind of articles of clothing.

I always hoped for one day to go to the Beach and watch the Sunset and I finally came around to witnessing it. Life has been a bit stressful lately while figuring out just about everything, however sometimes you have to just let it unfold itself and not control every aspect of it. There is so much more to life and I felt it on that day as the Sun departed. (Brighton Beach Brooklyn, N.Y.)

For this look I wanted to play around with the idea of Androgynous. It is drilled in our minds what beauty is from what we watch on T.V. to what we read on Magazines. Breaking the rules in gender roles has become more common as the days come. Super Model Andrej Pejic is the perfect example of bursting the stereotype of what a model's role should be by him strutting down the runway and being featured in numerous editorials / Magazine covers for the Men and Womenswear Industry.

1st I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving day / weekend with your loved ones. I am thankful each day I am able to wake up to endless possibilities and to share those exciting or struggling moments we face with my family and friends.

I didn't do any "Black Friday" shopping but I did purchase on Thanksgiving day my new Baby "Canon G12". Ever since my camera got damaged this past summer I made it my business to make my next purchase a camera worth spending my money on. To my luck as I walked in alone into the utopia of cameras at Adorama I was sneaked up by two of my favorite Photographers Freddy and Fausty from "The Still Group". They took the time to teach me a couple of tricks as we strolled around Union Sq. and Occupy Wall St. This was my 1st time attending any kind of protest and it was quite the experience. I will publish my perspective behind the lens at Occupy Wall St. from this years Thanksgiving day soon. In the mean time the following images below were taken by Fausty on that same beautiful day.

Out and About: South Bronx, NY.

I went a little crazy this past weekend and purchased all of these wonderful Candy color embroidery threaded bracelets. As I made my way back to the Phone company to handle the constant BS I've been dealing with for 3 weeks with my phone, this wonderful street vendor Lady charmed me into her table filled with all kinds of hand made bracelets. I couldn't contend myself so I gave in. I wore them right away all at once...lol.

If you ever happen to visit the Bronx come by Southern Blvd. the shopping area and her table is directly in front of the Dunkin Donuts Shop (or just down that same side walk). If you need more validation she is the ONLY table that sells these hand made beauties aside from also knitting hats.

I have been obsessing over these velvet blue vans for a while now. I can't wait to get my hands on them. I mean Hello! How yummy do they look ?!!!

These boxers are another must have for me. Believe it or not when I was in High School I purchased a pair of boxers by Sean John from this Street wear store I use to work for. I told my boss I would wear them the next day with my Jordans (The all black Bunnies #8) and I sure did. It was a common thing for me and my friends to wear boxers / pajama shorts or pants outdoors back then. Could this be a trend that's coming back? Who knows. I am a believer of wear whatever you feel comfortable with and don't worry so much about what others think. At the end of the day brands follow what "WE" real people wear and that's how Fashion Stylist such as myself get inspired as well. So go on and be free with out the worry of fitting into the "Hipster", SB, Goth or whatever other 1,000 labels are out there. Be YOU!

Me at about 5 years of age (appx.). A witch hat I made for Halloween.
Looking at this image made me think a lot about my life.
So, what would I tell my 5 year old self?

As said on my previous post I was "Alex" from Flashdance (Movie) the dinner scene < (Click to watch) this past weekend.
I obviously gave it a little twist by looking half dead or zombie-ish lol.
The "halter" style shirt and cuffs I cut them off from a Button down shirt. The Bow Tie I made it myself from fabric I picked up also. Although I made my Bow tie differently, here goes a link on how to make your own DIY Bow Tie "HERE"

Even though it snowed this past weekend I was not going to allow it to ruin my favorite time of the year. On the other hand still debating if I should attend the NYC 39th Annual Halloween Parade since I've never actually witnessed the actual parade. Some how I always make it when it's over.

My favorite time of the year is near and I have been procrastinating about it horribly. Aside from having a bad week, my computer crashing and to add icing on the cake my phone stopped working again !!! At least I have something to look forward to this weekend and thank God I am creative enough to use what I have in my closet for "costume" D.I.Y choices. On the other hand, I still can't decide where to go this weekend as an starting tomorrow? =[

My 1st costume choice is of course one of my favorite movie scenes in "Flasdance". NO! not the usual "I a Maniac" dance scene but the dinner scene where Alex gets a little sassy with it. Wuahahaha!!!

There really isn't much you can say about this amazing video. I love EVERYTHING about it. The free spirited personality, the F.U. attitude, and bad ass wardrobe. I honestly feel like this is me! lol minus the drug use. It was hard thinking about my favorite part but I reacted the most when they were "Skateboarding". I have always wanted to learn and WILL one day.
The beginning of the video shows how happy and full of life they (Rihanna and Boo) are. Every exciting moment is captured, which I love doing this with my friends. The most spontaneous moments in life are the ones that make a life long filled with memories. The video makes a drastic change towards the end and frankly that's just life. Everything that goes up must come down. Kudos to Rihanna who never seems to stop surprising me and that's what you have to love about her.

Clearly my version of this "Nail Art Tutorial" is more of a Galaxy explosion filled with glitter lol and although I have to work on my dotting skills I am pretty satisfied on how my nails came out.

My new Favorite !!!

A couple weekends ago I went for the 1st time to the Brooklyn Flea Market in the Fort Greene area (New York). They are specialized in selling vintage finds as well as hand made designs. I have never really been big on shopping for vintage items, however from the moment I stepped one foot into the flea market I was in heaven. It's almost like an addiction if you may say. I walked in with the idea of shopping for accessories and I did just that but also scored a vintage motorcycle leather jacket from the 80's. I was beyond excited. I was kind of bummed out that the summer was coming to an end but this jacket is making me look forward this Fall season. I can't wait to go back and see what will find me this time around. Yes I do believe that the motorcycle jacket was waiting for me lol.

I am Caribbean at heart so the fact that I have to say farewell to Summer after such a brutal winter this past year is like pulling teeth for me. However for some odd reason the weather has been up and down in NY and the heat has stuck around but not in a good way -__- It's the rain and humid kind of weather. Now I can't wait for it to just be cold.

DIY : Ripped Jeans.

Jeans; Zara / Boots; Army & Navy Store.

A couple of weeks ago I decided to rip my jeans up since I rarely wore them and now they have become my favorite pair. If I could live in these everyday, I would.

Supplies: Scissors and Chalk.

Instructions:
Step1:Wear the jeans so you can have a better idea of where you want to mark the 1st line where the cutting process will start.
Step2: Take your chalk and mark as evenly as possible where you will be cutting. (As you will start from top to bottom you have the option of marking your 1st lines while wearing the jeans and then removing them to mark the rest below those lines on both legs.) I did about 1" -1 1/2" apart but I did it free handed.
Step3: No matter where you chose to cut just always keep in mind to not cut all the way into the side seam nor inseam. (Side Seam is the stitched area on the side where your hands hang and the Inseam is the stitched area between your legs.)
Step4: Once your lines are marked all the way to the bottom of your jeans you can cut away.
Optional: I wore my jeans right away after I cut them but you can throw them in the washing machine and once done and dry you will get a more messy ripped look like the image below.

You have full creativity to cut where ever you please. This is just how I chose to cut mine based on this image I found in Tumblr of Kristin Cavallari.

The Fall season has officially started in NY. I like to wear dark colors but mainly black depending on my mood. Hope you enjoyed this post.

DIY: Friendship Bracelet for the Bestie!

I've been wanting to do a Friendship Bracelet D.I.Y. (DO IT YOURSELF) for a while now since it has always been my favorite Accessory and it certainly will always be. Here I made 2. The 1st 3 images is the one I made for my Bestie, and the last 2 images is a similar version for myself.

I love combining different colors in this case Neon Green with Silver and a Leather shiny Gun Metal shade which adds to the punch.
I will not say where I got my supplies since they were such A** Holes to me yesterday (too bad they lost a very good costumer). So I will direct you to a site where you can get everything even cheaper ( HERE! ) and also a site where it will explain how to make your own Friendship Bracelet much better than I would ever be able to "HERE".

Accessories Report: KIDROBOT x Swatch !

As you guys might have noticed I am a fan of most Swatch's Collaborations (Swatch x Jeremy Scott) especially if they are this fun looking. I already have my eye set out for "Love Song" (The multi-colored one on the left hand side of the last image above.) Which was designed by Graffiti Artist Tilt. His inspiration came from a song entitled "Telephone" from the 80's which is about a Man who wants to go to New York City with the Woman he loves. My 2nd favorite is "Shout Out" (1st image and centered in the middle). I find it shocking since I am not crazy about Fuschia however the wide open mouth, color combination and white graphic lines sold me. "Shout Out" was designed by MAD ( Illustrator / Toy Designer) and his inspiration came from the simple idea I believe most of us can relate to and I quote "Sometimes you just need to SCREAM".

I can't wait for this collaboration to hit the Swatch stores!

Cali in New York!

Last week and weekend were certainly hot days here in New York. These images I took on Thursday after taking my Son (Dog) Cali to the vet with my Best Friend who is the actual owner but we like to share =]. Cali is only 5months old and he is a true Blue Nose Pitbull .

In other news, I am very excited because yesterday I interviewed my good friend / Accessories Designer Sandra Freay and Photographer Fausti Rosario from "The Still Group" shot her beautiful apartment and designs she has in the works. I can't wait to show you guys. I also shot a new "Look of Mi Dia" (Look of the Day) which is probably my favorite up to now. For now that is all I will say about it and hope everyone is enjoying their day.

Happy Aug.1st Everyone!!!

I can't believe more than half the year is gone already!

What have you done for the past 8months that will get you ahead in life?

Something everyone should keep in mind...

This look I put together with the goal of it being able to be worn by different body shapes.

The A-Line Circle Skirt works for slim, wide hips and big booty girls. However, because of the length of the skirt depending on your height if you are short I would recommend shortening the length of the skirt. That will create the illusion of longer legs.

As far as Tank Tops, if you are busty solid colors work fine as well as prints which take away from the attention of your bust. If you are the kind of gal that doesn't really mind the attention lol than stripes can work vertically or really thin horizontal stripes as shown above.

For me the higher the heels the better (I am 5'5"). These Jeffrey Campbell platform lace up shoes are a DREAM!!! Works best on the one who dares to wear them !

I've been away for a bit but now I am back with a sketch. I have always loved drawing for as long as I can remember. It's very calming to me and although it's been a while since I last drew anything it felt nice to do it this time around because I wanted to and not for a school assignment.

This watch was selling like hot cakes back in April just in time for my Birthday. So I made it my business to give myself an early B-Day gift from this super cool collaboration between Swatch and Jeremy Scott.

Swatch x Jeremy Scott Limited Edition Lighting Watch.

This was done by pencil and ink with absolutely so eraser.

It nice to challenge yourself at times, you might be surprised with the outcome.

A quick post of my own nail art design aka "Home Made Mani" as I like to call it.

It's been a while since I have done my own nails so the imperfect lines do not bother me.

I ordered new brushes which I am very excited about and can't wait to get more creative with it.

These images were taken down the block from where I live and it has become one of my favorite areas to visit. Every year Graffiti Artist from all over come and make new art creations over the old ones. I put this look together for a night out to celebrate my accomplishment of Graduating. That was a get wasted kind of night lol.

It certainly has been a pretty cool weekend! I saw Harry Potter even though I have never seen any of the past movies they have made and it was pretty good in it's own right. I had an amazing time with my family celebrating my cousin's 15th B-day and my other cousin's 21st B-day. I also met a pretty cool designer called Marco Hall who has pieces that would make you Gag! (Gagging is a good thing by the way lol) and finally Laurel from LaureLuxe custom made me new business cards and I L O V E the results!

También conocí a un diseñador genial llamado Marco Hall, que tiene piezas que son maravillosas! y finalmente, Laurel diseñadora de LaureLuxe me diseño nuevas tarjetas de dar y me encanto los resultados!

The colors, the comic book style and the fact that it really is my face on the card sold me lol.
I also Styled a shoot yesterday and although I can't speak much about it for now I CAN'T WAIT to see the finished results. The team I worked with is truly one of a kind in every way.

Just about a year ago I styled this wonderful group of dancers whom go by the name of DysFunktional Solez based out of the Bronx, N.Y. My good friend Jose from The Still Group made this promo video and I could not be any happier than what I already am with the results.

It's been soooooooooooo long since I last blogged and I do not know where to even start.

So many amazing things have happened since I last made a post.

I GRADUATED from Parsons The New School for Design!!!!! YAYYYYY!!!!

H&M shirt, Zara shorts, Ann Taylor earrings, Forever21 multiple finger ring, Easy Pickins shoes.

I have been Styling a lot more, Oh yeah I cut all my hair off on my Birthday (Yikes) lol...and Life is pretty good!

So you might ask yourself what will be different this time around in D'Art of EstiLo?...

More of my personal style, friends looks put together by me, D.I.Y projects, beauty inspirations and Menswears looks as well as just anything and everything that spark in me to blog about. I will try to post as much as I can since I am FREE from school!!!

Final Chapter!

It's been a while, but just like that the summer flew by... LITERALLY!, and I am back in school. This being my Last Semester =D God Willing.
A lot has been going on that I don't even know where to put my head at, however I can't wait for this Semester to be over because I have a lot of plans for D'Art of EstiLo.
Until then I have NY Fashion Week to look forward to. For starters LaureLuxe's Spring 2011 Fashion Show 9/9, FNO ( Fashion's Night Out ) 9/10 Which will be even bigger this year and for myself a Photo Shoot that's been long over due with my Favorite Dance Crew The
DysFunkTional Solez Styled by me!

Well I can't stay too long but I will be back soon, with my annual stress venting sessions from school and life itself lol.

I have been doing a lot of research on Menswear and I came across this really cool Magazine / Books Store focused on all Japanese. I have always felt that European, Asia, and etc Editorials in general are the best. After looking at so many Magazines I saw this editorial spread that inspired me for a shoot I have coming up.

By the way that Dark Lip Stick shade is to DIE for!

Mis Compras: TOPSHOP / TOPMAN

A mini Book Bag I had to get. It reminds me of the unforgettable Movie "Clueless" I Lived for that Movie all though I was only about 9years old when it came out in 1995.

Me and my friend Linda went out on a little adventure at the Mall (The only one in the Bronx) to Michaels (Craft Store) and came across these colorful strings used for Lacing. Lacing was a hobby every little girl in the Hood had or at least at one point in their lives. As we were making them we realized how relaxing it is to just Lace "Boxes", "Stairs" and or "Snakes" (Terms of Lacing). I attached them on my bag just for fun. Reminding me of those innocent days when life was so much more simpler.

I couldn't leave TOPSHOP without checking out the TOPMAN Level. I came across this ring and I had to get it. I am not "Diabolica" ("Devil Lover") but something about this ring just attracted me. My style is never the same so I go with what feels right to me at the moment.

Me being a Design Student I felt it was only right for me to get this Necklace. I like the way it looks old and rusty. It has that look of it having history behind it. Once it gets to old to wear, I can take the charms and put them on a charm bracelet. That way it can stay with me forever!
